RHYTHM & SOUND 45 SESSION WITH SPECIAL GUESTS FROM WACKIE’S FIRST TIME IN NEW YORK <BR>Exclusive US appearance! <BR> <BR> <BR>NEW YORK, NY, April 8, 2005 – Deep Space, a weekly dub-inspired dance music party is proud to announce the first announced US appearance by dub producers Rhythm & Sound together with performers from Wackie’s and Deep Space resident dj François K. Rhythm & Sound will dj at Deep Space’s second anniversary special events on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 at club Cielo in Manhattan (see below for full event details). Guest performers from Wackie’s include Bullwackie (aka The Chosen Brothers), Love Joy, Milton Henry, and Prince Douglas. <BR> <BR> <BR>Seminal minimalists Rhythm & Sound will play dub and reggae 45's from the vaults with guest performers from the Wackie’s camp. Formerly known as Basic Channel and Maurizio, Rhythm & Sound is one of many musical projects by the prolific and highly influential German producers and composers Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald. In 2001 Mark and Moritz started a reissue program of 1970's-80's reggae from the legendary New York based Wackie’s label with 18 singles and 20 albums so far which feature such artists as Horace Andy, Sugar Minott, Love Joys, and Junior Delahaye. <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>See Mi Yah, their newest album to be released May 31, brings Rhythm & Sound’s deep dub together with vocalists including Paul St. Hilaire formerly aka “Tikiman”, reggae legends Sugar Minott, Willi Williams, and Jah Cotton who performed with the Blood & Fire Sound System. Other artists who have worked with Mark and Moritz include Detroit techno icons Carl Craig, Jeff Mills and Juan Atkins as well as Chicago house legend Ron Trent. The Orb has remixed their music. <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>The work of Rhythm & Sound has received recognition for decisively influencing the development of techno-house and electronic music worldwide. In 2005 Rhythm & Sound were the only artists to have 3 titles in "the 100 most important tracks in the past 15 years" poll, voted by a jury of music journalists for Groove Magazine in Germany. In 2002 the work of Mark and Moritz was <BR> <BR>awarded one of "The 50 Most Influential Records of All Times" by Muzik Magazine in the UK. <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Deep Space is an adventure into future dub, spacey vibes, and abstract grooves featuring resident dj François K. (Body&SOUL/Wave Music/Deep Space Media) live on the mixing board with special guest performances by legends such as Mutabaruka and U-Roy. Titled “Best Party of 2004” by Time Out NY and “Best Dub Party 2003” in New York Magazine the weekly Monday night party has already toured Japan, Europe and throughout the U.S. In 2005 François K. won “Best Resident DJ” at the Club World Awards.
